Sat 26th: Celebrate Political Prisoners

Come along for afternoon tea on Saturday
26 January at 4pm to drink a toast to political prisoners around the
world. We will be discussing some current cases (like Tame Iti and Rangi
Kemara) and the situation with some longstanding prisoners. We will also
be talking about the arbitrary definition of ‘political prisoners’ and the
prison-industrial complex. We welcome your input.

This event is being held on the birthday of Marie Mason, a eco-prisoner
who is serving 22-years in super maximum security in Texas for earth
liberation and animal liberation activities. Please join us and feel free
to bring baking to share. Light refreshments provided.

The synergies of these Anti’s became part of the popular consciousness in
2010 during resistance to the Olympics and G20 in what was a very intense
year for social movements in “Canada”.
These mobilizations saw effective collaboration between indigenous activists, anarchists, anti-poverty organizers, environmentalists, migrant justice groups, and others. This discussion will talk about the ongoing cross-pollination of movements in Turtle Island, drawing specific attention to anarchist and indigenous collaboration in the struggle for land and freedom.
